GE Washing Machine Strengths Review:

GE washing machines offer a wide variety of features and price points. If you're interested in well performing machines that will provide long term reliability, GE is a strong contender. Here are some standout features & strengths found on select GE washers:

#1) Large Load Capacity: Many General Electric washers offer internal capacity in excess of 4.0 cubic feet, allowing users to easily wash king sized comforters. 4.0 cu ft. will easily meet the requirements of most 4 person households plus. Most drums are constructed from stainless steel, which should increase washer longevity.

#2) Steam Cleaning: Since steam cleaning functions hit the washing machine scene several years ago, they have been all the rage in higher end units. Every manufacture calls it something different and GE refers to it as SteamAssist technology. The steam comes in handy for deep stains like grass and food/beverage stains. A must have if you're family uses washable diapers. A steam Refresh feature also helps reduce wrinkles and eliminate odors.

#3) Automatic Detergent Dispenser: Some higher end models offer a pedestal which holds and dispenses several months' worth of detergent. This can be a major time save and mess reducer. The technology is called SmartDispense and will dispense detergent and fabric softener based on the amount of laundry in the machine.

#4) Smart Cycles: Sensors automatically calculate load size and dispense the proper amount of water and adjust temperatures accordingly. This helps save water and energy, making GE washers more cost effective to run annually. GE calls this functionality H2ition Wash System. Many other manufactures now offer this as well, but everyone has a proprietary name for it.

#5) Cleans Well: Specialty wash cycles ensure that expensive fabrics will be handled with care and last a long time. Important feature to help reduce your dry cleaning bill. Some higher end models offer a Stain Inspector system which can be dialed in to treat over 40 common stain types from Grass to grease.

#6) Energy Star Ratings: GE has spent a lot of time money and resources making it known as a "Green" company. This has only benefited consumers and has pushed many of GE's washing machines to meet Energy Star Guidelines and carry the Energy Star label, ultimately saving you money on annual utility bills.

GE Washing Machine Weaknesses Review:

#1) Weird Colors: While many models are available in neutral Whites and Greys, GE has tried to use color to brand some higher end models, come the infamous Metallic Red. Hey, love it or hate it.

#2) Spin Speeds: Higher spin speeds mean less dry time. Because dryers tend to be real energy hogs, you can quickly realize importance of spin speeds. We were surprised that most high-end models didn't spin in excess of 1,100 RPM. Most washing machine manufacturers have higher end laundry machines reaching & exceeding 1,300 RPM's.

#3) Inconsistent Quality: GE offers a lot of different models and some models tend to see more frequent redesign than others. Even though there are GE washers that have received our 5/5 rating, make sure you look out for some of our sub-par model reviews and save yourself a headache with certain models by reading our reviews first.

Conclusion:

GE builds a wide range of Washing Machines from very economical bare bones washers to units that offer every feature available and that push the industry forward. Like any brand, there are some models that fall through the cracks and give the company a bad name. Let's face it, GE's been in the business for a long time, they're a proven innovator and wouldn't still be a top washing machine manufacturer if they didn't know what they were doing. Feel good buying a GE Washer, but read all model level reviews first and look for WashingMachineReview.com's recommended buys. Also be sure to look at LG washers.
